U.S. Department of Labor and Avalon Bay Communities Partner
To Promote Worker Safety on Massachusetts Construction Project

WOBURN, MA — The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Massachusetts Division of Occupational Safety, and Avalon Bay Communities have partnered to promote employee safety in the Avalon Woburn construction job in Woburn, Massachusetts.

As portion of this partnership arrangement, Avalon Bay Communities will require subcontractors to develop and implement safety and health programs, and foremen and subcontractors to run daily task briefings with team before beginning work; provide continuing training on the secure functioning of material handling equipment; and also run inspections and record corrections of construction-related dangers. The builder hopes to finish the 400,000 square-foot home job in May 2021.

Through that the Strategic Partnership Program, OSHA works by employers, workers, professional and trade associations, labour associations, and other interested stakeholders to set certain objectives, strategies and performance measures to enhance employee safety and wellness.

Under that the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, companies are accountable for providing safe and healthy workplaces for their workers.
